# Palworld Best Flying Mounts, Ranked

Short answer: **Jetragon** is the fastest flying mount in Palworld at a ride sprint speed of **3,300**, and nothing else is close. But it unlocks at technology level 70, so the mount that matters most to you is whichever of the sixteen below sits just under your current level. Here is the full 1.0 ladder, with the honest catch on each one.

> [!NOTE] Checked against Palworld **v1.0.4** (released 7 September 2026)
> Speeds and technology levels below are from the 1.0.4 game data. Version 1.0 (10 July 2026) raised the player level cap from 65 to 80 and re-tiered a great many saddle technologies, and v1.0.3 moved Jetragon's gear from level 79 down to **70**. Any flying-mount list written before July 2026 has the wrong unlock levels on most of the roster.

## Flying Mounts by Speed

Twenty-nine Pals can be ridden as flying mounts in 1.0. These are the ones worth building a saddle for.

| Pal | Ride sprint speed | Tech level | Stamina | Element |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| **Jetragon** | 3,300 | 70 | 110 | Dragon |
| **Shaolong** | 2,800 | 77 | 100 | Dragon / Water |
| **Eidrolon** | 2,750 | 68 | 130 | Dragon / Dark |
| **Xenolord** | 2,700 | 66 | 300 | Dark / Dragon |
| **Frostallion** / **Frostallion Noct** | 1,800 | 62 | 300 | Ice / Dark |
| **Shadowbeak** | 1,600 | 47 | 250 | Dark |
| **Selyne** | 1,600 | 53 | 300 | Dark / Neutral |
| **Quivern** / **Quivern Botan** | 1,400 | 38 / 45 | 220 | Dragon |
| **Faleris** / **Faleris Aqua** | 1,400 | 60 | 230 | Fire / Water |
| **Ragnahawk** | 1,300 | 33 | 150 | Fire |
| **Beakon** | 1,200 | 29 | 160 | Electric |
| **Suzaku** / **Suzaku Aqua** | 1,100 | 43 / 44 | 350 | Fire / Water |
| **Astegon** | 1,100 | 39 | 300 | Dragon / Dark |
| **Helzephyr** | 1,100 | 25 | 170 | Dark |
| **Elphidran** | 1,000 | 20 | 130 | Dragon |
| **Nitewing** | 750 | 15 | 100 | Neutral |

## The Picks That Actually Matter

**Nitewing (Lv. 15) — your first flyer, and you should rush it.** At 750 it is the slowest thing on this list, and it still changes the game completely the first time you stop walking around a mountain. Nothing else is available this early.

**Beakon (Lv. 29) — the early-mid jump.** 1,200 speed is a 60% improvement on Nitewing, and Beakon's partner skill applies Electric damage to your attacks while mounted and raises attack by up to 20% at higher partner-skill levels. It is a combat mount that happens to be fast.

**Ragnahawk (Lv. 33) — the cheap 1,300.** Four levels after Beakon for another 100 speed and a Fire damage rider. If you are levelling normally, this is the mount you will spend the most hours on.

**Astegon (Lv. 39) — not fast, and you want it anyway.** 1,100 is unremarkable. The partner skill is not: it increases damage dealt to ores by 1,100% and yields 150% more ore while mounted. Astegon is a mining tool with wings, and it pairs directly with an ore-heavy base.

**Suzaku (Lv. 43) — 350 stamina.** The highest stamina of any flying mount. On long ocean crossings, stamina beats speed — a Suzaku that never has to land will beat a faster mount that does.

**Shadowbeak (Lv. 47) — the real midgame ceiling.** 1,600 at level 47 is excellent value, and it holds up until you are within reach of the 2,700+ tier.

**Frostallion (Lv. 62) — 1,800 with 300 stamina.** The best all-round flyer before the top three. Its partner skill converts your attacks to Ice and enhances Ice damage; Frostallion Noct does the same for Dark.

**Xenolord (Lv. 66) — 2,700 with 300 stamina.** The sensible endgame mount. Jetragon is faster but has 110 stamina; Xenolord has nearly three times that, and its partner skill further increases flight speed.

**Jetragon (Lv. 70) — the ceiling.** 3,300 ride sprint, plus a rideable missile launcher. Since v1.0.3 the gear unlocks at level 70 rather than 79 and needs fewer materials, which is a meaningful change if you stopped playing during early access.

## The Trade-offs

**Speed is not the whole stat.** Jetragon has 110 stamina; Suzaku has 350. A 3,300 mount that runs out of stamina mid-ocean is slower over a long crossing than a 1,100 mount that does not. Match the mount to the trip.

**Some flyers drown.** The wiki's rideable list separates flying mounts that hover when stamina runs out from those that fall and drown — it flags **Quivern, Quivern Botan, Shadowbeak, Frostallion and Frostallion Noct** as the drowning group. Check before you commit to a long water leg on one.

**Stamina passives are worth more than a tier upgrade.** *Infinite Stamina* gives Max Stamina +50% and *Eternal Engine* +75%, both explicitly rideable-only. *Sickly* costs you 25%. A Ragnahawk with Eternal Engine will out-travel a naked Quivern.

**You may not need a mount at all.** Version 1.0 added the **Wing Pack**, which consumes Wing Cells for free flight without a Pal. It does not replace a fast mount for crossing the map, but it changes how much you need one for short hops.

**Riding got better in 1.0.** Shooting, dashing, weapon switching and charge behaviour while riding were all reworked, and the camera was adjusted. If you bounced off mounted combat in early access, it is worth another look.

## Where Your Server Comes Into It

Two settings decide how much a flying mount is worth on a given server.

**Fast travel.** `bEnableFastTravel` turns fast travel off entirely, and `bEnableFastTravelOnlyBaseCamp` restricts it to travel between bases. On a server running either of those, a fast flyer stops being a convenience and becomes your only transport — which is exactly why a lot of survival-focused communities turn them off. Both are documented in [Palworld Dedicated Server World Settings Explained](/knowledge-base/palworld/world-settings/).

**Stamina points.** `bAllowEnhanceStat_Stamina` — "Allow allocating stat points to Stamina" — can be switched off by an admin. On a server with it disabled, the mount's own stamina pool is all you have, and Suzaku's 350 suddenly looks a lot better than Jetragon's 110.

One performance note if you are the admin: `ServerReplicatePawnCullDistance` sets the Pal sync distance from players, with a documented range of 5,000 to 15,000 cm. Players crossing the map at Jetragon speed on a busy [hosted Palworld server](/games/palworld/) are the fastest way to find out where that limit is set.

## Common Questions

### What is the fastest flying mount in Palworld?

Jetragon, at 3,300 ride sprint speed, unlocked at technology level 70. Shaolong (2,800), Eidrolon (2,750) and Xenolord (2,700) are the next tier down.

### What is the earliest flying mount?

Nitewing, at technology level 15. Elphidran follows at 20 and Vanwyrm at 21.

### Is Jetragon worth it over Xenolord?

For raw speed, yes. For long trips, not always — Xenolord unlocks four levels earlier, carries 300 stamina to Jetragon's 110, and its partner skill increases flight speed further. Most players keep both.

### Which flying mount is best for mining?

Astegon. Its partner skill increases ore damage by 1,100% and yields 150% more ore while mounted. Nothing else on the list competes for that job.

### Do flying mounts need a saddle?

Yes — each one needs its own Pal Gear unlocked at the technology level listed above, then crafted at a Pal Gear Workbench.
