# Palworld Chromite: Where to Find It on Feybreak

Chromite is the late-game metal on **Feybreak Island**, and the reason most players can't find it is simple: **it is buried.** There is no shining rock to spot from a hilltop. You need either a **Metal Detector** or a **Smokie** out of its sphere to reveal the deposits before you can mine them.

> [!IMPORTANT] Chromite is Feybreak-only
> Chromite does not spawn anywhere on the main Palpagos Islands. Every deposit sits on Feybreak Island, in the far south-west of the map, and every one of them is invisible until something marks it. If you are still in the desert or the Astral Mountains, you are looking in the wrong place.

## Where to Find Chromite

The densest deposit fields are clustered around Feybreak's central highlands. These are the ten heaviest concentrations in the game data, with the fast travel point you should warp to first.

| Area | Coordinates | Deposits | Nearest fast travel |
|---|---|---|---|
| Deserted Ash Plateau ridge | -1200, -1177 | 35 | Crimson Labyrinth |
| Scorched Hill south face | -1194, -1307 | 34 | Scorched Hill |
| Shield Dragon Tunnel approach | -999, -1056 | 31 | Shield Dragon Tunnel |
| Scorched Hill north | -1151, -979 | 24 | Scarlet Outlook |
| The Oculus Gate approach | -1019, -1365 | 17 | The Oculus Gate, Tower in Sight |
| Scorched Ashland east | -972, -898 | 16 | Hill Entrance |
| Emberstone Plateau | -840, -1211 | 16 | Wildlands Floodgate |
| Curved Redrock | -1141, -871 | 15 | Curved Redrock |
| Hidden Passage to the Oculus Gate | -997, -1277 | 13 | Hidden Passage to the Oculus Gate |
| Stone Pillar Cave | -917, -988 | 12 | Stone Pillar Cave Entrance |

Feybreak's six **Caverns** are also worth clearing, both for the Chromite inside and for the schematics they hold. Their entrances are at:

| Cavern entrance | Coordinates | Known for |
|---|---|---|
| Loess Plains cave | -912, -1318 | Spirit Emperor's Baton Schematic |
| Scorched Hill cave | -962, -979 | Silvegis |
| Emberstone cave | -1038, -1196 | Silvegis Emblem Schematic |
| Ash Plateau cave | -1203, -1386 | Blazamut's Talisman Schematic |
| Crimson cave | -1209, -1104 | Hartalis's Talisman Schematic |
| Withered Seaside cave | -733, -1029 | Cannibal Gnaw |

Every Chromite deposit is on a **30-minute respawn timer**, so a circuit of four or five sites refills behind you by the time you loop back.

## You Need a Metal Detector First

The Metal Detector is unlocked at **Technology Level 58** and costs **30 Plasteel, 100 Paldium Fragment, 15 Computer and 20 Nightstar Sand**. Its in-game description is blunt about what it does: *"Using this reveals hidden Chromite deposits in dungeons, marking them for easier mining. Deposits will become unmarked if you move too far away."*

Nightstar Sand is the gate in practice, not Plasteel. It is collected from glowing nodes on Feybreak's beaches — the heaviest field sits around **-689, -1062** near Crimson Cliffs, with a second at **-784, -882** below Scorched Ashland. Those nodes run on a **20-minute** respawn, faster than ore, so 20 units is a short trip.

> [!TIP] Smokie is the free alternative
> Smokie's partner skill, *Dig, Smokie! Dig!*, scans the ground around it and marks nearby Chromite — no Technology Level 58 required. Keep Smokie **out of its sphere and active** as your partner while you sweep. Smokie itself also drops 1–2 Chromite, and a Silvegis drops 2–3.

## What Chromite Is Used For

Chromite is a small-quantity, high-value material. It does not go into ammunition or armour by the hundred — it goes into three specific things.

| Recipe | Cost | Unlock |
|---|---|---|
| Hexolite | 1 Chromite + 1 Hexolite Quartz | Technology Lv. 58 |
| Mythical Wooden Board | 10 Mythical Wood + 10 Hardwood + 5 Chromite | — |
| Silvegis Emblem | 20 Refined Ingot + 10 Chromite + 35 Paldium Fragment + 30 Ancient Bone | Silvegis Emblem Schematic |

Hexolite is the one that matters at endgame: it feeds the Thermal Core, and Hexolite Quartz is mined from the same island, so a single Feybreak trip stocks both halves of the recipe.

Chromite also sells for **150 Gold** each, which is fifteen times what a Coal sells for and one of the better gold-per-weight returns in the game at 3 weight per unit.

## The Efficient Farming Route

1. **Fast travel to Shield Dragon Tunnel (-970, -977).** The field at -999, -1056 is the closest large concentration to a warp point.
2. **Sweep with Smokie out, or the Metal Detector equipped.** Deposits mark with a beam; they un-mark if you wander too far, so work one patch at a time.
3. **Hop to Scorched Hill and Crimson Labyrinth.** Those two warps cover the two 34- and 35-node fields, the biggest in the game.
4. **Kill the Silvegis you pass.** Every Silvegis, including the Rampaging and Lv.80 variants, drops 2–3 Chromite at 100%, and they spawn on this island — there is a fixed Silvegis at Shield Dragon Tunnel, **-985, -1023**.
5. **Come back in 30 minutes.** Deposits respawn on that timer, so the loop is genuinely repeatable.

If you would rather not travel at all, **Feybreak expeditions** return 30–50 Chromite per successful run, and the hard variant 10–20. Once your Pal Expedition Station is running, that is passive income while you do something else.

## Base and Server Angle

There is no Chromite mining structure — no Chromite equivalent of the Coal Mine. The only base-side production is the **Ancient Material Synthesizer**, which outputs Chromite x1 at Technology Level 58. That makes field farming the primary route for the whole game.

On a dedicated server you can change the economics instead of the route. Three of the `PalWorldSettings.ini` gathering values matter here:

- **`CollectionDropRate`** — multiplies what a Chromite deposit yields when you break it.
- **`CollectionObjectHpRate`** — lowers deposit health so it takes fewer hits.
- **`EnemyDropItemRate`** — multiplies the 2–3 Chromite that Silvegis drops.

All three are documented with their defaults and value types in our [Palworld Dedicated Server World Settings Explained](/knowledge-base/palworld/world-settings/) guide. If you are running a group server where nobody wants to spend their evening sweeping Feybreak with a metal detector, doubling `CollectionDropRate` is the honest fix — and a [hosted Palworld server](/games/palworld/) is where that file lives.

## Common Questions

### Can you get Chromite without a Metal Detector?

Yes. Smokie's partner skill marks Chromite deposits with no Technology requirement at all, and both Smokie and Silvegis drop Chromite when defeated or captured. Feybreak expeditions and supply drops also return it in bulk.

### Where is Chromite on the main island?

Nowhere. Chromite deposits only exist on Feybreak Island. If you are hunting a metal on Palpagos, you want Ore, Coal, or Pure Quartz instead.

### How long does Chromite take to respawn?

Thirty minutes per deposit, the same timer as Ore, Coal and Pure Quartz nodes.

### What is Chromite worth?

150 Gold per unit at 3 weight. It was raised from 7 Gold in the 1.0 release, so guides written during early access badly understate it.

*Checked against Palworld **v1.0.4** (released 7 September 2026).*
