Hytale Commands: Server, Admin and Operator Commands

Every Hytale server and admin command, taken from the 0.6.8 server: /op, whitelist, bans, worlds, time, teleports, plus what Update 7 changes.

Updated September 28, 2026
Hytale

These Hytale commands are the server and admin commands built into the Hytale dedicated server: operators, whitelist, bans, worlds, time and weather, teleports and the player cheats. We took every command below from the server itself (release 0.6.8, Update 6, built 19 September 2026), not from another site's list. Hytale updates weekly and commands do change, so there's a section at the end on what the Update 7 pre-release changes.

You can run them in two places. In game, type them in chat with a leading /. On a GameServerKings server you can also type them in the panel Console, which runs them with full server rights. The Console is how you make yourself an operator in the first place.

Two built-in helpers are worth remembering. /help <command> shows a command's usage, and adding --help to any subcommand does the same, for example /world config --help.

Become an Operator First

Operators are players in the hytale:Admin permission group. The safe way to make one is from the panel Console, where you already have full rights:

/op add YourName
text

It takes an online player's username or a UUID. /op remove <player> takes the rights away again.

Leave "Allow operators" off

The Allow operators option on the Startup tab adds the server's --allow-op launch flag. With it on, /op self works, and /op self needs no permission to run, so any player on the server can make themselves an operator. Without the flag, /op self only prints a tip. Use /op add from the Console instead.

For finer control than all-or-nothing, the /perm commands edit permissions.json for you:

Command What it does
/perm user group add <uuid> <group> Put a player in a group
/perm user group remove <uuid> <group> Take a player out of a group
/perm user add <uuid> <permissions> Grant a player individual permission nodes
/perm group add <group> <permissions> Grant a whole group permission nodes
/perm list --all List every registered permission node
/perm test <nodes> Check whether you have a permission
/perm reload Reload permissions.json from disk

Command permissions follow the pattern hytale.command.<command>. For example, Update 6 added hytale.command.give.armor.other. The /perm user commands want a UUID, not a name. /whoami (alias /uuid) prints yours, along with your username. It's a player command, so run it in game.

Player Management

Command What it does
/who List who is on the server
/kick <player> Kick a player
/ban <player> Ban a player (username or UUID)
/unban <player> Unban a player
/whitelist add <player> / remove <player> Add or remove a whitelisted player
/whitelist enable / disable Turn the whitelist on or off (aliases on, off)
/whitelist list / status / clear Show the list, show whether it's on, or empty it
/maxplayers <amount> Set the player cap
/whoami <player>, /whereami <player> Show a player's info or location
/inventory see <player> Look inside another player's inventory
/hide <player> / /hide show <player> Hide a player from others, or show them again

Server Control

Command What it does
/stop Stop the server (alias shutdown). The panel's Stop button sends this
/say <message> Announce a message to the whole server (alias broadcast)
/notify <message> Send a notification to all players across all worlds
/version Show the running server version
/backup Back up the universe now. It only works once a backup directory is set, see Hytale worlds, saves and backups
/auth status / /auth login device / /auth persistence <type> Check and sign in the server's Hytale account, and choose where the login is stored
/plugin list List loaded plugins (aliases /plugins, /pl)
/plugin load <name> / unload <name> / reload <name> Manage one plugin without a restart
/packs list List loaded asset packs
/discovery link <token> Link the server to Hytale's in-game Server Discovery list, using the token from your server profile
/maxviewradius <radius> / reset Cap how far players can see. Hypixel names view distance as the main driver of server RAM

World Commands

Hytale runs a universe that can hold several worlds, so most world commands take a world or act on the one you're standing in.

Command What it does
/world list List loaded worlds (alias /worlds)
/world add <name> Create a new world
/world load <name> / remove <name> Load an existing world, or remove one
/world setdefault <name> Choose the world players join
/world save --all Save every world to disk now. Use --world <name> for just one
/world config pvp <true/false> Turn PvP on or off for this world
/world config seed Show the world seed
/world config setspawn Set the world's spawn point. /world config setspawn default puts it back
/world config pausetime Freeze or unfreeze the day cycle
/world perf Show the world's TPS. /world perf graph draws it over time
/world tps <rate> / /world tps reset Set or reset one world's tick rate
/time Show the world time. /time dawn, midday, dusk or midnight sets it
/weather set <weather> / get / reset Force, show or clear the weather
/spawn set Set the world spawn. It defaults to your current position

Player Commands and Cheats

These act on you, and most have an "other player" form that needs its own permission.

Command What it does
/gamemode <mode> [player] adventure or creative, or a / c (alias /gm)
/give <item> / /give <player> <item> Give an item. Optional --quantity
/tp <player> / /tp <x> <y> <z> Teleport to a player or coordinates
/tp <player> <targetPlayer> Teleport one player to another
/tp all <x> <y> <z> / /tp top / /tp back / /tp world <name> Everyone, highest block, previous spot, another world
/spawn / /spawn <player> Go, or send someone, to the world spawn
/warp set <name> / /warp <name> / /warp list / /warp remove <name> Named teleport points
/kill / /kill <player> Kill and respawn
/inventory clear Empty your inventory
/spectate / /spectate <player> / /spectate exit Spectator mode, added in Update 6
/player effect apply <effect> / clear Apply or clear status effects
/player viewradius set <radius> Change one player's view distance

Running Commands on a Schedule

Anything you can type in the Console, a panel schedule can send for you. A useful nightly pair for Hytale is a warning and a save before a restart:

  1. Send command: /say Restarting in 5 minutes
  2. Send command (delay 290 seconds): /world save --all
  3. Send power action (delay 10 seconds): Restart

The restart matters on Hytale specifically. Our servers check for a new game build each time they start, and after a Hytale update players can't join a server on the old version. How to Setup Schedules walks through building one.

What Update 7 and Chapter 1 Change

As of 28 September 2026 the release build is 0.6.8 (Update 6). Update 7 is in pre-release and carries the upcoming Chapter 1 content. Hypixel has announced Chapter 1 for 12 October 2026, on the official Hytale account on X (24 September). hytale.com didn't list a date when we checked, so treat it as the planned date. The pre-release notes (Parts 1–4, 3–24 September 2026) list these command changes. They only apply once your server is on that build, either the Patchline pre-release option on the Startup tab or the eventual release:

  • /worldevent enable switches world events on or off per world. It takes true or false, and with no argument it toggles.
  • /chunk height dumps a column's heightmap, and /chunk fixheight now rebuilds the column.
  • /block bulk find gains --chunkY and --radius, and /block bulk replace takes its radius in chunk sections.
  • /cursethis is renamed /ephemeral.
  • /eventtitle takes --style in place of --major.
  • /wilderness debug [enabled] [player] shows which chunks count as wilderness and which as home.
  • fragment timer add <seconds> adds time to the portal fragment timer.

We'll update this page when those land in a release.
