Customizing your map is a crucial part of the Rust experience. Fortunately, you can do this very easily via your management panel.
First navigate to the desired server, and you should see this option
Clicking this will bring you to a list of launch configs. Normally the "New Server" config is the recommended route for starters. Rather or not you're using a different one, click on [ Select ] to to select it as default if you haven't already, and you'll be presented with a few options:
Map Seed
Seed is the overall map layout. this can be anywhere from 1 to 2,147,483,647. (The latter being the max value of an 32-bit signed integer.) Going over this number will result in the server loading with 2,147,483,647.
Map Size
Map size is the size of the map in meters. So a value of 2000 as shown, would be a 2000m x 2000m map. This value can range anywhere from 1500 to 6,000. Larger seeds may take longer to load, and may induce lag depending on your server configuration. We recommend to set this around 4,000 for the best experience. If you plan on a Spawn PVP type server, smaller sizes are more ideal (1500 to 2000).
Preview Seeds
To preview a seed and size, just click visit Rust:IO and input a seed and size into the menu as shown:
Once you've found a seed and size that you like, click and restart your server.
