Is Satisfactory Crossplay? PC, PS5 and Xbox Explained

Steam and Epic play together, PS5 and Xbox play together, and the two halves never meet. What that means for a dedicated server.

Updated September 12, 2026
Satisfactory

Short answer: partly. Satisfactory has crossplay inside each family but not between them. Steam and Epic players share everything, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S share everything, and the two halves cannot reach each other. There is no PC↔console play, and no date for any.

The short version

Steam ↔ Epic: yes, including on a dedicated server. PS5 ↔ Xbox Series X/S: yes. PC ↔ console: no. Consoles also have no dedicated servers and no mods, so a console group cannot rent a server from anyone. Saves do not move between platforms.

The official wiki states it in one sentence: "Cross-platform multiplayer is available between Steam and Epic Games as well as between consoles, but not between console and PC."

Is Satisfactory Cross-Platform?

Within a family, yes. Satisfactory came to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on 4 November 2025, ported in collaboration with Fishlabs, and consoles got their own shared pool rather than a seat at the PC table.

The PC half is unusually clean. Both storefronts run the same build, updates land on the same day, and there is no "which launcher did you buy it on" trap of the kind that ruins co-op in other survival and building games. Since Update 1.2 in June 2026, Coffee Stain has been shipping patches to PC, PS5 and Xbox simultaneously — so even the version numbers now line up. The platforms still will not connect to each other.

Steam players may be asked to link an Epic account

Multiplayer runs on the Epic Online Services backend. Joining a same-platform friend needs nothing extra, but "to crossplay, Steam players must have linked their Epic account upon prompted." On console, an Epic Games account is required outright to host or join a session. If a Steam↔Epic join is failing before it reaches the loading screen, check that link first.

Why There Is No PC↔Console Crossplay

Coffee Stain has been unusually direct about this, and the reasoning is worth knowing because it explains why "soon" is not on the table:

  • PC players can change the game; console players cannot. The wiki's summary is that PC players "have the freedom to modify the game by adjusting settings using config files, and using mods and save editors, which can destabilize the game to the point of unplayability on console." A shared pool would have to reconcile a modded, config-edited PC session with a console build that has no way to load any of it.
  • It is a backend problem, not a toggle. PC↔console crossplay "would require developing a custom multiplayer backend, which is a massive undertaking that would take years to complete."
  • It has not been ruled out — but it is not queued. The developers' own framing is that it would take "all hands on deck for a really long time", and that it is not a high priority.

Read that as: not in this update, not in the next one, and no announced date.

What This Means For Your Server

A Satisfactory server from us is a PC dedicated server, and on the PC side that is genuinely store-agnostic. Per the official wiki: "Game clients from both the Epic and Steam game stores can connect and play on dedicated servers regardless of where the server binaries were downloaded." Mixed Steam-and-Epic groups are a normal, supported case, not something you have to work around.

Console players cannot use it, and the reason is worth spelling out because it is doubled up. There is no PC↔console crossplay, and consoles have no dedicated server support at all — "Dedicated servers are not available for the console release, without any plan to introduce the support later." A PS5 or Xbox group is limited to a player-hosted session, with the world alive only while the host is in the game.

So if your group plays on PS5 or Xbox, there is no Satisfactory server for us to sell you, and no host who can sell you one. We would rather tell you that here than take the order.

A dedicated server is a bigger upgrade in Satisfactory than in most games

Player-hosted sessions are built around four players and stop the moment the host quits — which in a game where factories run on their own is the wrong shape entirely. A dedicated server keeps the belts moving overnight, holds the save centrally, and lets you raise the player limit past four. Already have a world? You can upload your existing save and carry on from where you stopped.

Common Questions

Can a PS5 player join my PC dedicated server?

No. Console builds cannot connect to dedicated servers at all, and there is no PC↔console crossplay even for player-hosted sessions.

Can PS5 and Xbox players play together?

Yes. Crossplay between the two console platforms is supported, and both need an Epic Games account to host or join. On PS5 the store listing also notes that PS Plus is required for online play.

My friend has it on Epic and I have it on Steam. Will that work?

Yes. That is the one pairing Satisfactory handles properly. Join through the friends list with your Epic account linked, or share the Session ID from Manage Session → Session Settings — that route works across both stores.

Can I move my save from console to PC, or PC to console?

No. Saves do not transfer between platforms. A PC save can be moved onto a PC dedicated server, and that is the extent of it.

Do consoles get mods?

No. Mods are PC-only, so every mod guide — ours included — applies to the Steam and Epic versions. The absence of mods on console is one of the stated reasons crossplay is hard.

Is PC↔console crossplay coming?

Nothing has been announced. Coffee Stain has not ruled it out, but has described it as a multi-year backend rewrite rather than a feature in the queue.

Your own Satisfactory server is a world that stays up when you log off — nobody has to host it from their own PC, and it's there whenever your group wants to play.
