Stunlock has addressed this directly rather than leaving it vague, and the reasons they have given are worth understanding because they explain why this is unlikely to change:
- V Rising is PvP-first. Clan-versus-clan combat and castle sieges are the endgame. Mouse aim and a full hotbar give a keyboard-and-mouse player a measurable advantage over a controller, and mixing the two in a game built around raiding each other's castles is a design problem, not just a technical one.
- The PC version can be modded; the PS5 version cannot. A shared pool would have to reconcile modded PC servers with a console build that has no way to load those mods.
What This Means For Your Server
A V Rising server is a PC server. Every PC player can join it regardless of where they bought the game, and that is the whole community you have access to. PS5 players cannot connect to it, and there is no configuration that changes that.
If your group is split across PC and PS5, there is no arrangement that gets you into one world. That is worth knowing before someone buys the game on the wrong platform to join friends.
Private and public servers behave differently
A rented server is always online, holds your castle's decay timers steady, and keeps progress when nobody is playing — which matters far more in V Rising than in most survival games, because castles decay when unattended. Hosting from your own client stops the world the moment you quit.
