Is Conan Exiles Crossplay? PC, Xbox and PlayStation
Conan Exiles has no PC-console crossplay, and the Enhanced update split the PC side too. Which builds can share a server, and which cannot.
Short answer: no. Conan Exiles has never had crossplay between PC and console, and since May 2026 the PC side is split as well. The Steam version now runs Conan Exiles Enhanced on Unreal Engine 5; the Epic Games Store and Microsoft Store versions are still on the old UE4 build. Those two builds cannot see each other's servers.
The short version
PC ↔ console: no. Steam ↔ Steam: yes — that is the Enhanced build, and it is what a rented server runs. Epic Games Store and Microsoft Store players cannot join an Enhanced server; Funcom left them on "Conan Exiles Legacy". Xbox ↔ PlayStation: no. There is no cross-progression on any pairing.
If you are here because a friend on PS5 wants to join your PC server, the answer is no and there is no configuration that changes it. If you are here because a friend bought Conan on the Epic Games Store, the answer is also no — and that one is new, so it catches people out.
Is Conan Exiles Cross-Platform?
No. Funcom's own rule is the whole story in one line: "Your client version must match the version of the server." Everything below is a consequence of it.
| Can play with → | Steam (Enhanced) | Epic Games Store | Microsoft Store | Xbox | PlayStation |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Steam (Enhanced, UE5) | ✓ | ✗ | ✗ | ✗ | ✗ |
| Epic Games Store (Legacy, UE4) | ✗ | ✓ | ✓ | ✗ | ✗ |
| Microsoft Store (Legacy, UE4) | ✗ | ✓ | ✓ | ✗ | ✗ |
| Xbox (UE4) | ✗ | ✗ | ✗ | ✓ | ✗ |
| PlayStation (UE4) | ✗ | ✗ | ✗ | ✗ | ✓ |
There is one bridge, and it runs the wrong way. A Steam owner can open Conan Exiles Enhanced in their Steam library, go to Properties → Game Versions & Betas, and pick Conan Exiles Legacy — which drops them into the UE4 column alongside the Epic and Microsoft Store players. It works, and it is the only way a Steam player and an Epic player can share a world. It also costs you the Enhanced build, the Bazaar, and official servers, which is a steep price for the privilege.
What Changed in May 2026
Conan Exiles Enhanced launched on 5 May 2026 as a free Unreal Engine 5 upgrade, built with Inflexion Games. Funcom was explicit about who was getting it: "This upgrade will be available to all current and future owners of Conan Exiles on Steam starting May 5th."
Everyone else stayed behind. From the same FAQ, which still reads this way on Funcom's site today:
- "The UE4 version will remain available on consoles (Xbox, PlayStation), as the Enhanced update is currently for PC (Steam) only."
- "PC players (including Epic Games Store and MS store) who want to continue playing the UE4 version can do so by switching to Conan Exiles Legacy, but this version will not receive additional updates, support, access to the Bazaar, or official servers."
- "All official PC servers will be updated to UE5, and because the UE5 update is only available on Steam, this unfortunately means players on Epic Games Store and Windows Store will not be able to access official servers from launch."
Before this, the three PC storefronts all ran the same UE4 client and all reached the same official PC servers. That is the closest Conan Exiles has ever come to crossplay, and the Enhanced upgrade ended it.
"No current plans" is the official position
Asked whether Enhanced would reach other stores and consoles, Funcom answered: "While there are no current plans, we are considering bringing the update to Epic Games Store, MS store, Xbox and PlayStation platforms later." That wording has not changed since April 2026. Treat any date you see elsewhere as a rumour.
What This Means For Renting a Server
A Conan Exiles server from us is a PC server running the Steam dedicated server build. The people who can join it are players who own Conan Exiles on Steam and are on the current Enhanced version. That is the large majority of the active PC population, all of the official-server crowd, and the entire modding scene — but it is not everyone who owns the game on a PC.
Two groups cannot use a server from us, and we would rather say so before you order than after:
- Console players. Xbox and PlayStation stay on UE4 with their own official servers, and Funcom sells console server rental through its own named partner rather than the open hosting market. We cannot host a console Conan server, and neither can most hosts.
- Epic Games Store and Microsoft Store owners. They are on Conan Exiles Legacy. If your whole group bought the game on Epic, a server from us is the wrong purchase — you would need one of you to buy it again on Steam, or all of you to stay on UE4 and rent a Legacy server instead.
Check where everyone bought the game before you order
"We all have it on PC" is no longer enough information. Ask which launcher each person uses. One person on the Epic Games Store is a blocked join, not a firewall problem or a bad config file.
Common Questions
Can a PS5 or Xbox player join my PC server?
No. Consoles run a different engine version with their own official servers, and Conan Exiles has never shipped PC↔console crossplay. The Xbox store listing advertises cross-generation multiplayer — Xbox One with Xbox Series X|S — which is a different thing entirely.
My friend bought Conan on the Epic Games Store. Can they join?
Not on an Enhanced server. Their client is UE4 and the server is UE5, so the version check refuses the connection. Either they buy the Steam version, or the group plays on a Legacy server with everyone switched to UE4.
Can Xbox and PlayStation players play together?
No. Each console platform has its own official servers and its own private server rentals. No crossplay between them has been announced.
Is Enhanced coming to Epic, the Microsoft Store or consoles?
Unconfirmed. Funcom says it is considering it but has no current plans, and has given no timeline. Nothing has been announced as of September 2026.
Does my character transfer between platforms?
No. Progress is per-platform, and there is no account linking between storefronts. Funcom also warned that the upgrade is one-way at the database level: a save moved to UE5 cannot be taken back to UE4.
Can I rent a console Conan Exiles server from you?
No. We sell Conan Exiles as a PC product only. If your group plays on PS5 or Xbox, a third-party host is not an option for you — including this one.
