Palworld Cryogenic Coolant: Recipe, Uses and How to Farm It
Cryogenic Coolant is crafted, never found: 1 Aquatic Pal Fluids + 1 Ice Organ at Tech 31. Every recipe that needs it and the ranch loop that feeds it.
Short answer: Cryogenic Coolant in Palworld is crafted, never found. One unit costs 1 Aquatic Pal Fluids + 1 Ice Organ at a Production Assembly Line, and the recipe unlocks at Technology Level 31. Nothing drops it and no merchant sells it, so a cryogenic coolant farm in Palworld is really a farm for its two ingredients. The cheapest way to run one is a Kelpsea and a Foxcicle on the same Ranch.
Checked against Palworld v1.0.5 (released 15 September 2026)
Cryogenic Coolant was added in 1.0 (10 July 2026). Guides written before then do not mention it. They list Ice Organs going straight into refrigerators and furnaces, and those recipes no longer apply.
The Recipe
| Ingredients | 1 Aquatic Pal Fluids + 1 Ice Organ |
| Yield | 1 Cryogenic Coolant |
| Crafted at | Production Assembly Line, Production Assembly Line II, Advanced Workshop, Ancient Workbench |
| Unlock | Technology Level 31 |
That is a 1:1:1 ratio. Every coolant you need is one fluid and one organ, so plan both farms at the same rate. It is also a Handiwork job at the assembly line. Put your best Handiwork Pal on it, not whichever one happens to be nearby.
Why You Suddenly Need So Much of It
Technology 31 is the point where coolant starts turning up in recipes everywhere. It sits in heating, cooling and water structures, in several saddles and in endgame weapons. These are the main ones, with the Technology level each unlocks at:
| Recipe | Coolant | Unlock |
|---|---|---|
| High Quality Hot Spring | 3 | Lv. 31 |
| Fishing Pond | 3 | Lv. 31 |
| Ghangler Saddle | 10 | Lv. 31 |
| Water Grenade | 1 | Lv. 33 |
| Improved Furnace | 5 | Lv. 34 |
| Accumulator | 5 | Lv. 37 |
| Refrigerator | 10 | Lv. 38 |
| Quivern Saddle | 10 | Lv. 38 |
| Jormuntide Saddle | 24 | Lv. 40 |
| Electric Heater | 5 | Lv. 41 |
| Electric Cooler | 10 | Lv. 42 |
| Whalaska Saddle | 10 | Lv. 42 |
| Electric Furnace | 10 | Lv. 44 |
| Large-Scale Stone Oven | 13 | Lv. 49 |
| Cold Food Box | 15 | Lv. 51 |
| Flamethrower | 13 | Lv. 52 |
| Refrigerated Crusher | 25 | Lv. 54 |
| Plasma Multicutter | 10 | Lv. 54 |
| Pal Pod | 6 | Lv. 56 |
| Overheat Rifle | 50 | Lv. 64 |
| Combat SMG | 20 | Lv. 68 |
| Ancient Kitchen | 50 | Lv. 70 |
| Ancient Hot Spring | 20 | Lv. 76 |
Some wikis list the Refrigerated Crusher as the "Cryogenic Crusher". It is the same building.
Base levels force the issue. Three base-level objectives need coolant buildings. Base level 17 asks for an Electric Furnace (10), level 21 for a Cold Food Box (15) and level 22 for a Refrigerated Crusher (25). That is 50 coolant just to keep your Palbox levelling, before you craft a single saddle.
Research eats it in bulk. Cooling Research 5, Watering Research 6, Base Pal Enhancement 3 and Pals at Base Enhancement 3 each cost 50 Cryogenic Coolant in the 1.0.5 game data.
Cold-resistant armour may use it too. The 1.0.5 game data, as datamined by paldb, lists Cryogenic Coolant in the cold-resistant armour recipes from Refined Metal upwards, where the early-access recipes used Ice Organs. The wiki's armour pages still show the older recipes, so check the recipe at your workbench before you farm for it.
Farming the Two Ingredients
The Ranch loop (the real answer)
Two Pals make coolant ingredients passively when assigned to a Ranch:
- Kelpsea produces Aquatic Pal Fluids.
- Foxcicle produces Ice Organs.
Both scale with Ranching level in 1.0. A level 1 ranch Pal gives 1 per cycle, and by level 10 it gives 3–10. A Ranch holds four Pals and costs 30 Wood, 20 Stone and 30 Fiber at Technology Level 5. Put two Kelpsea and two Foxcicle on one Ranch, add a Transporting Pal to move the drops into a chest, and your coolant is only ever waiting on assembly-line time.
Kelpsea and Foxcicle are both ordinary, catchable Pals. Kelpsea is a small Water Pal found in groups on beaches, and Foxcicle lives in the snow. There is no reason to hunt anything rarer for this.
Pals that drop both at once
If you would rather farm by hand, a few Pals drop both ingredients on every kill or capture:
| Pal | Aquatic Pal Fluids | Ice Organ |
|---|---|---|
| Pengullet | 1 | 1–2 |
| Whalaska | 1–2 | 1–3 |
| Azurobe Cryst | 1–2 | 1–3 |
Pengullet is the early answer. It is a common low-level Pal, and each one you capture or defeat covers at least one coolant. Whalaska and Azurobe Cryst give more per kill but live in cold, higher-level areas.
For bigger batches, farm separately. Suzaku Aqua drops 5 fluids and Jormuntide 2–4, Frostallion drops 10 Ice Organs and Reptyro Cryst 3–4. See Aquatic Pal Fluids for the full fluids list.
Expeditions
Once you have beaten the Hard Mode tower bosses, two expeditions bring back 10–20 of an ingredient per run:
- Rayne Syndicate Smuggling Warehouse (from Zoe & Grizzbolt on Hard): Aquatic Pal Fluids 10–20.
- PAL Genetic Research Laboratory (from Victor & Shadowbeak on Hard): Ice Organ 10–20.
Both runs take two hours, and neither will be available when you first need coolant at Technology 31. See the Hard Mode bosses guide.
Server Angle
On a group server, coolant is the material everyone needs at the same moment. Four players hitting Technology 40 at once means four sets of saddles, refrigerators and furnaces coming out of one guild's Ranch. Pocketpair documents three PalWorldSettings.ini keys that change that maths:
MonsterFarmActionSpeedRate: "Item production speed multiplier from grazing." This is the Ranch speed, so raising it speeds up your Kelpsea and Foxcicle directly. It was added to World Settings in 1.0.EnemyDropItemRate: "Dropped item quantity multiplier." More fluids and organs per Pengullet.WorkSpeedRate: the base Pal work-speed multiplier, which shortens the assembly-line jobs.
All three, along with how to edit the file without the server overwriting it, are covered in Palworld Dedicated Server World Settings Explained. Those settings belong to whoever runs the server. On a hosted Palworld server that is you.
Common Questions
Where do you find Cryogenic Coolant in Palworld?
You don't. It has no world spawn, no enemy drop and no merchant listing. It is crafted from 1 Aquatic Pal Fluids and 1 Ice Organ at a Production Assembly Line or higher.
What level do you unlock Cryogenic Coolant?
Technology Level 31, the same tier as the Fishing Pond and the High Quality Hot Spring, both of which use it.
What is the fastest way to farm Cryogenic Coolant?
A Ranch with Kelpsea (fluids) and Foxcicle (Ice Organs), plus a Handiwork Pal on a Production Assembly Line. Nothing needs you in the loop once it is built.
Was Cryogenic Coolant in early access?
No. It arrived with the 1.0 release on 10 July 2026, which is why older refrigerator and furnace recipes online still ask for Ice Organs instead.
