Palworld Ore, Ingots and Refined Ingots

Every weapon, every tool and every piece of armour in Palworld traces back to one of five ingots, and all five start with Ore. This is the map of that chain: where ore is, what each ingot costs, which furnace makes it, and the two base structures that let you stop mining by hand.

The short version

Ingot = 2 Ore. Refined Ingot = 2 Ore + 2 Coal. Pal Metal Ingot = 4 Ore + 1 Pure Quartz + 2 Paldium Fragment. Ore comes from rocks anywhere on Palpagos; the other two inputs are the actual bottlenecks.

Where to Find Ore

There are 1,463 ore deposits in the world, so the question is never "where is ore" but "where is ore next to a fast travel point." These are the densest fields:

The Desolate Church field at 63, -424 is the one to remember. Fifty-four deposits, and the fast travel statue is effectively inside it. It is reachable early, it is not in a hostile biome, and nothing else in the game combines that density with that little walking.

Ore rocks require Mining work suitability level 2 and respawn on a 30-minute timer, the same as coal and quartz.

Ore weighs 8 per unit

A hundred ore is 800 weight. Carry capacity, not mining speed, is what actually ends an ore run. Ride a Pal that reduces ore weight, upgrade your weight stat, or accept shorter trips — this is the single most common reason people think ore farming is slow.

The Ingot Ladder

Notice the work cost: 10 for an Ingot, 70 for a Refined Ingot, 500 for Pal Metal, 7,000 for Soralite. Past the Refined Ingot tier, furnace throughput matters more than how much ore you have.

The three furnaces

All three need a Pal with Kindling level 1 or higher assigned. The Electric Furnace additionally needs electricity, so a generator has to come first.

Stop Mining By Hand

Two base structures produce ore indefinitely, and both only need Mining level 1 — far below the level 2 that field rocks demand.

Ore Mining Site II is five times faster per unit of work — 16 versus 80 — for double the build cost. Past Technology Level 39, replacing your Mining Sites is one of the best upgrades in the base. The same pattern holds elsewhere: a Coal Mine (Lv. 37), Pure Quartz Quarry (Lv. 52) and Hexolite Quartz Mine (Lv. 62) each turn a field trip into passive production.

Pals That Make Mining Faster

Reptyro is the underrated one: carry weight is what actually ends an ore run, so a weight reduction beats a mining-speed buff per trip.

Several Pals also drop ore outright: Pierdon gives 4–5 Ore and 4–5 Coal, which is exactly the Refined Ingot ratio, and Digtoise, Knocklem, Gorirat Terra, Surfent Terra and Cryolinx Terra each give 2–3.

Expeditions are the best passive source of raw ore in the game: 30–50 per successful Grass, Forest, Volcano or Desert run, 40–60 from Snow and 50–80 from Sakurajima.

Server Angle: Four Settings Control All of This

Every resource on this page is governed by the same four values in PalWorldSettings.ini:

Doubling CollectionDropRate halves every mining trip. Halving CollectionObjectHpRate makes coal and quartz rocks — 3,000 and 6,000 HP — roughly twice as fast to break. Defaults, value types and the formatting rules that silently void the config block are in Palworld Dedicated Server World Settings Explained. They are only a lever if you control the file, which means a dedicated Palworld server — on a co-op world the rates are fixed at world creation.

Mining changed in 1.0

Ore's sell value doubled to 10 Gold in 1.0, Coal went from 3 to 20 and Pure Quartz from 10 to 50. Pocketpair is still patching mining — the v1.0.2 notes fix "an issue where the damage number displayed when destroying ore while mining could sometimes appear as 0." Treat early-access guides as suspect on numbers.

Where is the best ore farm in Palworld?

The Desolate Church field at 63, -424 — 54 deposits, and the fast travel statue sits inside the field. Ascetic Falls (-222, -416) has 55 deposits but a longer walk from the warp point.

What do you need to make Refined Ingots?

2 Ore and 2 Coal per ingot, at an Improved Furnace (Technology Level 34) with a Kindling Pal assigned.

How do you make Pal Metal Ingots?

4 Ore, 1 Pure Quartz and 2 Paldium Fragment at an Electric Furnace (Technology Level 44). Pure Quartz is the limiting ingredient.

How long does ore take to respawn?

Thirty minutes per deposit, the same as coal, quartz and chromite.
